RESOLUTION 90-20090 RESOLUTION NO: 90-20090 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMENDING STEVE MICHELSON AND THE FLORIDA FOOD RECOVERY PROJECT, INC. , WHICH HE DIRECTS, AND ENDORSING THAT ORGANIZATION'S APPEAL FOR SURPLUS DONATED FOOD TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE NEEDY FREE OF CHARGE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: WHEREAS, the Florida Food Recovery Project, presently operated by Steve Michelson, obtains surplus food from all types of businesses, including stores, supermarkets, bakeries, drug stores, produce markets and similar enterprises, for distribution to the needy, and WHEREAS, the Florida Food Recovery Project collects, stores, sorts and arranges for the distribution of these foods through the use of hundreds of volunteer workers, and WHEREAS, thousands of needy recipients are the beneficiaries of food, free of charge, by the food distribution activities of the Florida Food Recovery Project, and WHEREAS, Steve Michelson is hereby commended for his efforts in undertaking the organization and direction of this beneficial work, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City endorses and recommends the "free" Florida Food Recovery Project, operated by Steve Michelson, and urges the public to assist in this program of providing "free" food for distribution to the needy.
