BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,that effective October 1, 1990, there is hereby established a schedule of special event application and permit fees for special events held within the City of Miami Beach, in accordance with the Commission Memorandum hereby attached and made a part thereof. Pa 'ns ,s City Manager iir SUBJECT: THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL EVENT APPLICATION AND PERMIT FEES During the past twelve months the City received 216 special event requests (applications) , of these 185 were actually produced. The preparation of each special event package is quite time consuming. An overall review process establishes the necessary requirements due to the scope of the event, (i.e. , off-duty police & fire-rescue, permits, license(s) , etc. ) . Additionally, once the event is approved, there are many meetings, working out the logistics with other departments, agencies, etc. , which incumber many City staff manhours. To off-set these costs, the Parks and Recreation Department is requesting the establishment of a $50.00 application fee which would be submitted with each proposal. A $150.00 permit fee would be charged for those events approved and come to fruition. These fees would be separate and apart from any other City service cost(s) , clean-up, insurance, et. al. The projected revenue for F.Y.90/9l is $27,500.00. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends the establishment of a Special Events Application Fee of $50.00 and a Special Events Permit Fee of $150.00.
