A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH SUPPORTING THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL'S
ACTION IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
WHEREAS, the United Nation's National Security Council has
passed Resolutions 660, 661, 662 , 664 , 665, 666, 667 , 669, which
strongly condemn the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and which recognize
that there exists a breach of international peace and security due
to the barbaric and cruel military actions which have transgressed
in the sovereign nation of Kuwait, and
WHEREAS, this invasion has caused tremendous strife and civil
unrest not only to the Middle East but to the entire world, and the
United Nations has sent a joint military force to respond to this
crisis situation, and
WHEREAS, the nation of Kuwait was in the forefront of States
that gave development aid to other countries, and Kuwait's
contribution represented the highest rate in the world that gave
development aid in terms of gross national product amounting to
over eight (8%) percent of its gross national product, and
WHEREAS, the United Nations has called for Iraq's immediate
withdrawal of all Iraqi forces in Kuwait and to return the
legitimate government of His Highness, Amir of the State of Kuwait,
Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and
WHEREAS, the United States, England, Canada and France, Egypt
and other United Nations members, have sent military forces to the
Middle East and have, under Resolution 661, "Determined to bring
the invasion and occupation of Kuwait by Iraq to an end and to
restore the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of
Kuwait. "
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission of the
City of Miami Beach does hereby wholeheartedly endorse the military
actions which have been taken by the United Nations and all other
sanctions which have been undertaken by the United States
government in order to restore the authority of the legitimate
government of Kuwait and to bring an end to the illegal occupation
of Kuwait by Iraq. •

THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE MIAMI BEACH CITY
COMMISSION wholeheartedly endorses the action of the United States
and the United Nations in its resolve to restore the legitimate
government to Kuwait, and strongly request that the United States
Congressmen and Senators wholeheartedly support the United Nations
Resolutions until the legitimate Government of Kuwait is restored.
