A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA FORMALLY
CENSURING COMMISSIONER ABE HIRSCHFELD, AND
REMOVING HIM AS LIAISON TO THE GREATER MIAMI
CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU.
WHEREAS, it is the law of this state that anyone who holds
public office submits his character to the scrutiny of those he
serves; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Abe Hirschfeld has caused shame and
embarrassment to the City of Miami Beach and its residents by his
deplorable behavior towards a Miami Herald reporter and his
subsequent press conference in which he defiantly denied any
regrets; and
WHEREAS, this Commission, as representatives of the City of
Miami Beach and its residents, desires to take official action
condemning Commissioner Abe Hirschfeld's behavior.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That Commissioner Abe Hirschfeld is formally
reprimanded and censured by this Commission for deliberate acts
inconsistent with standards of conduct expected and required of one
who holds the office of Commissioner of the City of Miami Beach.
Section 2 : That Commissioner Abe Hirschfeld be removed as
liaison to the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.
