RESOLUTION 91-20260 RESOLUTION NO. 91-20260 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AUTHORIZING THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA PROGRAM GRANT (HIDTA) AND MAKING PROVISIONS TO APPROPRIATE SUCH FUND IF THE GRANT APPLICATION IS APPROVED AND AWARDED. WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Police Department is desirous of increasing law enforcement activities so as to interdict drug trafficking and combat gang violence; and, WHEREAS, such increase in law enforcement activities is expected to result in reduced street and property crimes; and, WHEREAS, the Federal Government, through it's High Intensity Drug Traffick- ing raffick- ing Area Program Grant (HIDTA) has made available fund for such activities; and, WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Police Department is desirous of applying for such funds to assist in increasing such law enforcement activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission hereby authorizes the Miami Beach Police Department to apply to the Federal Government for a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program Grant (HIDTA) and that such funds be appropriated when the grant is approved and awarded.
