A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, NAMING THE
COURTYARD AREA BETWEEN THE POLICE STATION AND
WASHINGTON AVENUE, "CHIEF ROCKY POMERANCE
PLAZA".
WHEREAS, Rocky Pomerance began his service to the City of
Miami Beach as a Patrolman in 1950, was promoted to Detective in
1953 , served as Constable of the 5th District (Miami Beach) for two

Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, Rocky Pomerance was an exemplary representative of
the City of Miami Beach and a role model for the nation during his
management of security control during the 1968 and 1972 Republican
Conventions and the 1972 Democratic Convention; and
WHEREAS, Rocky Pomerance from 1950 to 1977 , gave 27 years of
dedicated and devoted service to the citizens and City of Miami
Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that in recognition of Rocky
Pomerance' s above-described record of service and achievement to
the citizens of Miami Beach, we the Mayor and City Commission of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida do hereby name the courtyard area
between the Police Station and Washington Avenue, "Chief Rocky
Pomerance Plaza" .
