A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF "MIAMI
BEACH POLICE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER ENHANCEMENT FUND" IN
THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1990/1991.
SUCH ACCOUNT TO BE FUNDED BY REVENUE APPROPRIATED BY THE
STATE OF FLORIDA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
WHEREAS, the State of Florida allocated $1, 178 , 280. 00 during
the fiscal year 1990-1991 to the Dade County Public Schools to
support the School Resource Officer Program; and
WHEREAS, in September 1990 the School Board at Dade County,
Florida authorized the Superintendent of Schools to enter into
contractual agreements with various municipalities, including the
City of Miami Beach, to provide funds to enhance their School
Resource Officers Programs at a cost of $589 , 140 . 00, subject to a
prorata reduction based upon the State revenue holdback or any
other increase/decrease in entitlement; and
WHEREAS, a contractual agreement with Metro Dade County and
various municipalities including the City of Miami Beach was
authorized by the Superintendent of Schools which will provide
funds in the approximate amount of $ 12 , 992 . 02 to the City of Miami
Beach for the purpose of enhancing the Police Department School
Resource Officer Program; and
WHEREAS, such funds being allocated for the specific purpose
of enhancing the Police Department' s School Resource Officer
Program, this revenue shall now be appropriated into a "Miami Beach
Police School Resource Officer Enhancement Fund" in the special
revenue fund, to be utilized by the City of Miami Beach Police
Department as such need exists to enhance the School Resource
Officer Program; and
WHEREAS, said appropriation of funds will lapse at the
conclusion of each fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT the City Commission hereby
creates the "Miami Beach Police School Resource Officer Enhancement
Fund" in the Special Revenue Fund for the year 1990/1991, beginning
with funds allocated by the State of Florida and the School Board
of Dade County and continuing therein, and such funds are hereby
appropriated into said "Miami Beach School Resource Officer
Enhancement Fund" .

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION REQUIRING THE CREATION OF A "MIAMI BEACH
POLICE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER ENHANCEMENT FUND
The Administration requests a Resolution providing for
the creation of a "Miami Beach Police School Resource
Officer Enhancement Fund" in the Special Revenue Fund
for the fiscal year 1990/1991. Such account to be
funded by revenue appropriated by the State of
Florida.
ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends that the City Commission
approve the creation of a "Miami Beach Police School
Resource Officer Enhancement Fund" .
