A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING A
PLAQUE BE PLACED AND HALL C BE NAMED "MUHAMMAD
ALI HALL OF CHAMPIONS", AT THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH CONVENTION CENTER.
WHEREAS, Muhammad Ali began his illustrious professional
boxing career training in the City of Miami Beach under the expert
coaching of Angelo Dundee; and
WHEREAS, Muhammad Ali, the only three time heavyweight
champion of the world, won his first title in 1964 at the Miami
Beach Convention Center, a bout that was promoted world-wide by
Chris Dundee; and
WHEREAS, Muhammad Ali ' s career and fame began in the City of
Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that in recognition of the
relationship between Muhammad Ali ' s career and this City, effective
15 days from today, we the Mayor and City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida do hereby name Hall C of the City of Miami
Beach Convention Center, "Muhammad Ali Hall of Champions" .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 8th day of May 1991.

RESOLUTION REQUESTING A PLAQUE BE PLACED AND
SUBJECT: HALL C BE NAMED "MUHAMMAD AL I HALL", AT THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER.
On Thursday, March 14, 1991, the Rules and Special Events Committee
briefly discussed an item requested by Mayor Alex Daoud in which he
requested that Hall C of the City of Miami Beach Convention Center
be named "Muhammad Ali Hall" and that a plaque be placed in this
hall. Said item was deferred by the Rules and Special Events
Committee due to lack of information.
On Wednesday, March 20, 1991, the City Commission discussed the
item and scheduled it for public hearing.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The City Administration recommends that a plaque be placed in Hall
C of the City of Miami Beach Convention Center and that Hall C be
named "Muhammad Ali Hall" .
