A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENTERING INTO
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
AND THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH PROVIDING FOR THE
CREATION OF A DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION
(D.A.R.E. ) PROGRAM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
ANTI-DRUG ABUSE ACT OF 1988 . FUNDS FOR SUCH
PROGRAM TO BE REIMBURSED BY METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY, NOT TO EXCEED $18 , 415 .
WHEREAS, the COUNTY has been awarded federal funds from the
Drug Control and System Improvement Formula Grant Program under
Public Law 100-690 , the Anti--Drug Abuse Act of 1988 , hereinafter
referred to as the ACT, and
WHEREAS, the COUNTY as contractor/grantee for the State of
Florida is authorized to purchase services for DRUG ABUSE
RESISTANCE EDUCATION (D.A.R. E. ) as an allowable activity under the
ACT, and
WHEREAS, the COUNTY is desirous of providing funds to expand
the services provided by the DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION
(D.A.R.E. ) PROGRAM, and
WHEREAS, the COUNTY desires to enter into an Agreement with
the City of Miami Beach for the purpose of performing services and
program activities in accordance with the ACT, and
WHEREAS, the COUNTY requires certain services from the City of
Miami Beach Police Department in order to fulfill its contractual
obligations under the aforementioned grant, and
WHEREAS, the CITY OF MIAMI BEACH agrees to: (1) Implement a
demand reduction education program known as D.A.R. E. , in which
uniformed law enforcement officers participate; (2) Provide
services and program activities to be funded under the terms of
this Agreement and in accordance with the ACT; (3) Provide
services on a regular basis to students, faculty, and parents for
elementary schools which are located within the City' s
jurisdiction, and to members of the community as needed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT the City Commission hereby
creates the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E. ) Program for
the Fiscal Year 1991/92 , with funds allocated by Metropolitan Dade
County and continuing therein, and such funds are hereby
appropriated into the Special Revenue Fund.

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION REQUIRING THE CREATION OF A "DRUG ABUSE
RESISTANCE EDUCATION" PROGRAM (D.A.R.E. )
The Administration requests a Resolution providing for the
creation of a "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program"
(D.A.R.E. ) , for FY 1991/92 , with funds to be placed into the
Special Revenue Account. Such funds have been appropriated by
Metropolitan Dade County.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends that the City Commission approve
the creation of a "Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program"
(D.A.R. E. )
