Resolution 2019-30963 • RESOLUTION NO. 2019-30963 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS FROM THE COCA-COLA COMPANY, IHEARTMEDIA, INC., RENEE M. GROSSMAN/COMPASS FL, LLC, RUBENSTEIN LAW, P.A., TERRA GROUP, SYSCO CORPORATION, AND DESTINATION BRANDS INTERNATIONAL, LLC, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $29,905, FOR THE CITY'S 2019 4TH OF JULY EVENT, "FIRE ON THE FOURTH," AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO APPROPRIATE SUCH SPONSORSHIP FUNDS AND DONATIONS TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY REIMBURSEMENTS AND/OR EXPENDITURES , IN FURTHERANCE OF AND CONSISTENT WITH THE EVENT. WHEREAS, in 1991, the City of Miami Beach launched the first 4th of July Event as a means to attract more visitors to the City; and WHEREAS, this Event has been carried out year-after-year as a vehicle to continue to bring more visitors to the City; and WHEREAS, the Event includes all-day activities, performances for the public, and a fireworks show, all of which are free of charge to the public; and WHEREAS, in furtherance of the City's 2019 4th of July event, "Fire on the Fourth," sponsorships were made by the following entities to the City, in the cumulative amount of$29,905.00: o The Coca-Cola Company o iHeartmedia, Inc. o Renee M. Grossman/Compass FL, LLC o Rubenstein Law, P.A. o Terra Group o Sysco Corporation • o Destination Brands International, LLC; and WHEREAS, the above-referenced entities were recognized as Event sponsors; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission retroactively approve the sponsorships, and accept the aforestated donations and sponsorship funds from the above-named sponsors; and WHEREAS, the City Administration further recommends that the Mayor and City Commission authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to appropriate such sponsorship funds and donations to make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures in furtherance of and consistent with the aforestated event and its purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby retroactively approve and authorize the acceptance of donations and sponsorships from the Coca-Cola Company, iHeartMedia, Inc., Renee M. Grossman/Compass FL, LLC, Rubenstein Law, P.A., Terra Group, Sysco Corporation, and Destination Brands International, LLC., in the total amount of $29,905.00, for the City's July 4, 2019 Event, and further authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to appropriate such sponsorship funds and donations to make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures in furtherance of and consistent with the Event.
