RESOLUTION NO. 92-20438
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AN
INVITATION TO FORMER MID-EAST HOSTAGES TO COME
TO MIAMI BEACH TO JOIN METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY, THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND THE CITY
OF MIAMI IN A SPECIAL FOURTH OF JULY
CELEBRATION IN 1992 IN HONOR OF THEIR SAFE
RETURN.
WHEREAS, Mr. Armando Gutierrez has proposed that the City of
Miami Beach, the City of Miami and Metropolitan Dade County invite
the former Mid-East hostages to join in the Fourth of July
celebrations held by the Cities and the County in 1992 ; and
WHEREAS, this proposal, which is also supported by City of
Miami Vice Mayor Miriam Alonso, calls for a special celebration in
honor of the safe return of the former Mid-East hostages to
freedom; and
WHEREAS, numerous businesses have agreed to sponsor
arrangements for the entertainment of the former hostages; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that the proposed
special celebration in honor of the safe release of the former Mid-
East hostages will enhance the spirit and joy of the citizens of
Miami Beach in observing the celebration of American freedom and
independence on July 4 , 1992 .
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: that the City Commission supports
an invitation to former Mid-East hostages to come to Miami Beach to
join Metropolitan Dade County, the City of Miami Beach and the City
of Miami in a special Fourth of July celebration in 1992 in honor
of the safe return of the former hostages.
