WORKSHOP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY REGARDING THE
BUILDING PERMIT FEE INCREASES AS PROPOSED IN THE AMENDMENT

Pursuant to your directive during the first reading of the subject ordinance, the Building
Department has scheduled a 2-hour workshop providing an overview of the proposed
permit fee increases for the development community including architects, engineers,
contractors, business owner and homeowners. Along with an overview of the proposed
increases, the department will make presentation to the community regarding upcoming
enhancements to the service including the hand-held computers for inspectors, posting of
inspection results to the web and the near future prospect for internet-based permitting.
The workshop participants' suggestions, feedbacks and recommendations will be taken
into consideration.
The Building Department has advertised the event through distribution of a flyer (attached)
and mailings to developers, contractor and builder associations.
The Workshop is scheduled to take place on September 3, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in the
Commission Chambers.
