The purpose of this LTC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the status of Altos
Del Mar.
On August 26, 2003, Commissioner Jose Smith traveled to Tallahassee to attend the
August meeting of the Florida Cabinet. At this meeting, the Cabinet, sitting as the Board of
Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, approved the transfer of the eleven
contiguous State-owned lots in Altos Del Mar to the City of Miami Beach.
The Administration and the City's representatives in Tallahassee will work with the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection to expedite obtaining the Cabinet members'
signatures on the deed, at which point the City will be able to proceed with the $2.9 million
investment into the Altos Del Mar Park Project.
