This letter to the Commission is to provide information on the selection of Silvia Vezzoso as
the Miami Beach Police Department's Police Explorer of the Year. Silvia has been a part
of the Miami Beach Police Explorer program since 1996. During these years $ilvia's
organization skills, personal motivation, and leadership skills have made her an integral
part of the program's success. Silvia combines her intense interest in law enforcement
with a sincere desire to help those in her community. She often volunteers her time to the
Police Athletic League, the Boys and Girls Club of Miami, and the Kids Without Parents
Program. In addition to her volunteer efforts, $ilvia regularly participates in the "ride along
program" spending part of a shift accompanying a Patrol Officer. Earlier this year Silvia
was also promoted to be the first female Chief Explorer in the history of the Police Explorer
program.
Please join me in congratulating Silvia for this tremendous accomplishment and thanking
her for her dedication and commitment to the Miami Beach Police Explorer Program.
