A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ELECTING JOHN ELIZABETH ALEMAN, GROUP VI,
AS VICE-MAYOR, FOR A TERM COMMENCING ON NOVEMBER 1, 2019 AND
TERMINATING ON NOVEMBER 12,2019,OR IF A RUNOFF ELECTION IS HELD,
TERMINATING ON NOVEMBER 25, 2019.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission established a policy of rotating the position of
Vice-Mayor every four months; and
WHEREAS, typically the term for the next Vice-Mayor would be November 1, 2019 through
February 29, 2020; however, because of the General Election scheduled for November 5, 2019, and
Commissioner John Elizabeth Aleman being term-limited, the term for the next Vice-Mayor will
commence November 1, 2019 and terminate on November 12, 2019, or if a Runoff Election is held
the term will terminate on November 25, 2019; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Charter Section 2.04, a resolution will be placed on the
November 12, 2019 Commission Agenda, or if a Runoff Election is held on the November 25, 2019
Commission Agenda, allowing the newly elected City Commission to elect from its membership the
newly elected Group VI Commissioner as Vice-Mayor for a term to expire February 29, 2020.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA Commissioner John Elizabeth Aleman, is hereby
elected as Vice-Mayor, for a term commencing on November 1, 2019 and terminating on November
12, 2019, or if a runoff election is held, terminating on November 25, 2019.
PASSED and ADOPTED THIS 16th day of October 2019.

OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ELECTING JOHN ELIZABETH ALEMAN,
GROUP VI, AS VICE-MAYOR, FOR A TERM COMMENCING ON
NOVEMBER 1, 2019 AND TERMINATING ON NOVEMBER 12, 2019, OR IF A
RUNOFF ELECTION IS HELD, TERMINATING ON NOVEMBER 25, 2019.
ANALYSIS
Pursuant to City Charter Section 2.04, the City Commission shall, at its first meeting after each
General Election, elect from its membership a Vice-Mayor who during the absence or disability
of the Mayor shall perform the duties of Mayor.
The Mayor and City Commission established a policy of rotating the position of Vice-Mayor
every four months, and the next Vice-Mayor Group is Group VI.
The term for the next Vice-Mayor is November 1, 2019 through November 12, 2019, or if a
Runoff Election is held, terminating on November 25, 2019. Commissioner John Elizabeth
Aleman is next in the rotation to serve as Vice-Mayor.
