The City of Miami Beach was honored, last week, with the 3CMA (City, County
Communications'and Marketing Association) Savvy Award for its Web site. The 3CMA
Sawy Awards honor creative marketing and communications. The City was recognized in
the Best Technology Services - Web Sites (population 55,000 to 160,000) category.
The award judges said, "There wasn't anything not to like about this entry. Pleasing design,
well-considered organization, as well as a good use of graphics to grab and hold attention,
many options for contacting/providing feedback, and a wide array of online services in their
'virtual city hall' (in particular, they have an online request system that provides tracking
capability). All in all, it is a good role model for any municipality regardless of population or
geographic location. From a marketing standpoint the 'What's New' section on the home
page is great to draw visitors in to see current news in an exciting format."
The Savvy Awards competition is sponsored by the City-County Communications and
Marketing Association (3CMA) and is held in cooperation with the National League of
Cities. The Savvy Awards program incorporates the prestigious City Hall Public
Information Awards Competition, sponsored for 17 years by City Hall Communications.
The awards recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications,
public sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The Sawies salute skilled
and effective city, county and agency professionals who have creatively planned and
carried successful innovations.
In addition, Nannette Rodriguez, media relations officer, and Luis Sahuquillo, information
technology specialist II, presented two educational sessions on "Weaving a Better Web" at
the 15~ Annual 3CMA Conference, which drew positive comments from attendees from
across the country.
