A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT DONATIONS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, UP TO
$50,000.00, FOR THE FAREWELL SYMPHONY EVENT IN HONOR OF
ISRAEL CONSUL GENERAL, LIOR HAIAT, WHICH WILL BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 6, 2019, AT THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY CONCERT HALL,
AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE SUCH
EXPENDITURES OR REIMBURSEMENTS CONSISTENT WITH THE
AFORESTATED EVENT AND PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, Lior Haiat assumed the post of Consul General of Israel to Florida, Alabama,
Mississippi, and Puerto Rico in February 2016; and
WHEREAS, Consul General Haiat will be relocating back to Israel to assume the role as
Spokesperson to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November; and
WHEREAS, due to important contributions the Consul General has made to the City of
Miami Beach and the City's commitment to and friendship with the State of Israel, the City,
through Mayor Gelber, will be co-hosting a farewell event to honor Consul General Haiat for his
years of service and contributions, on November 6, 2019, to be held at the New World
Symphony concert hall; and
WHEREAS, considering the significant public benefit and purpose of the aforestated
event, the City Administration recommends that the City Commission approve and authorize the
City Manager to accept donations, up to $50,000.00, and further authorize the City Manager to
make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures of the aforestated donations in
furtherance of, and consistent with, the aforestated event and purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the City Manager to accept donations on behalf of
the City, up to $50,000.00, for the farewell symphony event in honor of Israel Consul General,
Lior Haiat, which will be held on November 6, 2019, at the New World Symphony concert hall,
and further authorize the City Manager to make such expenditures or reimbursements
consistent with the aforestated event and purpose.
