Ca o ! City Manager y SUBJECT: Resolution confirming the Special Assessments on the Ocean Drive Improvements Administration Recommendation The Administration recommends that the City Commission Adopt the Resolution confirming the assessments against the properties benefitted from the construction of the improvements to Ocean Drive from Fifth through Fifteenth Streets. Background After the conclusion of the Public Hearing on the Ocean Drive Improvements and the Commission serving as an equalization board on the special assessments, this Resolution is the document which actually causes the special assessments to be confirmed. the passage of this Resolution is necessary to properly assess the specially benefitted property owners for their proportionate share of the costs incurred on the project. • Analysis The preliminary assessments on the property owners from the improvements on Ocean Drive are based on an assessment of $234.15 per front foot of property. This includes the property along Fifteenth Street at an assessment of 50% of that amount per front foot. The total assessable property in the project area is 9,846.8 feet and is almost split exactly 50%/50% between the public and private sectors. The assessment on the average hotel site along Ocean Drive is $23,415.00 based on an average lot size of 100 feet and may be payed in full without interest or over ten years at an annual cost of $3,489.53 including interest at eight per cent (8%). Conclusion The City Commission should adopt the attached Resolution confirming the special assessments on the specially benefitted properties as per the preliminary special assessment roll.
