A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE TO THE STATE
OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE
SERVICES FISCAL YEAR 1992-93 CONTRACT FOR SUPPORTED
EMPLOYMENT TRAINING OF DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS AT
THE MIAMI BEACH ACTIVITY CENTER; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE OF NOVEMBER 1, 1992; INCREASING THE GRANT AWARD FROM
$35, 122 to $38, 517; AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE
REVISED AMOUNT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
WHEREAS, the City entered into a contract covering Fiscal Year
1992-93 with the State of Florida Department of Health &
Rehabilitative Services (HRS) to provide supported employment
training to developmentally disabled adults at the Miami Beach
Activity Center for which $35, 122 in operating revenues is to be
receipted; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of amending its contract with HRS to
permit the acceptance of one (1) additional client into its
supported employment training program effective November 1, 1992 ,
through June 30, 1993 , for an additional $3 , 395, bringing the
revised annual contract amount up to $38 , 517 ; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that such funds be appropriated for the
revised annual award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized to execute Amendment Number One to the State of
Florida Department of HRS Contract for Supported Employment which
is attached hereto.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends adoption of the attached Resolution which
authorizes the execution of Amendment Number One to the State of Florida
Department of Health & Rehabilitative Services (HRS) Supported Employment

Training Program Contract
_ This amendment increases the grant award by
$3 , 395 for a total grant amount of $38 , 517 , in order to service one
additional client at the Miami Beach Activity Center/Log Cabin Nursery.
BACKGROUND:
On July 8 , 1992 , the City authorized execution of two annual contracts with
the State of Florida Department of HRS to provide continued funding of its
City programs designed to benefit developmentally disabled adults at the
Miami Beach Activity Center (8128 Collins Avenue) . These two programs are
entitled "independent living skills" and "supported employment. " Independent
living skills teaches clients the skills necessary to become self-reliant
such as cooking, personal hygiene, housekeeping and the like. Supported
employment trains clients to assume jobs based on their knowledge and
abilities. Combined, these two programs provide $213 , 873 for Fiscal Year
1992-93 and support up to forty-two (42) clients.
ANALYSIS:
The terms and operating conditions of both contracts remain unchanged.
However, the allocation under the supported employment training program has
been increased from $35, 122 to $38, 517 to reflect the influx of an additional
client into the program. Presently, we serve seven (7) clients under the
supported employment contract. With this amendment we will serve eight (8) .
This will bring the total number of clients served at our facility under both
training programs up to forty-three (43) . The revised allocation under both
programs will now be $217 , 268 , or an increase of $3 , 395.
CONCLUSION:
The amendment must be approved by the City Commission to allow us to accept
this additional client into the supported employment program. By executing
the amendment, it will also ensure that we receive the corresponding revenue
associated with this increased service level.
