RESOLUTION NO. 92-20619
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE EFFORTS OF THE COMMUNITY
RELATIONS BOARD TO ENSURE THAT EQUALITY OF RIGHTS WITHIN THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SHALL NOT BE DENIED OR ABRIDGED ON ACCOUNT
OF RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RELIGION, AGE, SEX, SEXUAL
ORIENTATION, HANDICAP, MARITAL STATUS OR FAMILIAL STATUS AND
DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION AND CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
TO EXPEDITIOUSLY BRING TO THE COMMISSION LEGISLATION TO
ACCOMPLISH THIS PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, wishes to
secure for all individuals within the City of Miami Beach freedom from
discrimination because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex,
sexual orientation, age, handicap, marital status or familial status;
and
WHEREAS, at its meeting of October 15, 1992 , the Community
Relations Board expressed the desire to work with the City
Administration and the City Attorney' s Office to expeditiously bring to
the Commission legislation which would ensure equal rights within the
City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the City Commission endorses the efforts of
the Community Relations Board to ensure that equality of rights within
the City of Miami Beach shall not be denied or abridged on account of
race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation,
handicap, marital status or familial status and that the Commission
directs the City Administration and City Attorney' s Office to bring to
the Commission legislation to accomplish this purpose in accordance with
the following schedule:
1. Present draft ordinance to the Community Relations Board by
November 11, 1992 .
2 . Present ordinance for first reading at the City Commission
meeting of November 18 , 1992 .
