RESOLUTION 93-20748 r RESOLUTION NUMBER 93-20748 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING PRESIDENT CLINTON'S ECONOMIC STIMULUS PROPOSAL AND SUBSEQUENT SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION BILLS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT, WHEREAS, President William Clinton has proposed an economic stimulus program to aid U.S. cities, including providing $16. 4 billion in emergency spending this year; and WHEREAS, the program includes an appropriation of CDBG and HOME funds from U. S. HUD and Federal Department of Transportation funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach and Dade County have suffered from a high unemployment rate and, more recently, from the physical and economic impacts of Hurricane Andrew; and WHEREAS, the City is in dire need of funding assistance to improve its infrastructure, build capital improvements and create new employment opportunities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, strongly urges Congress and the President to move forward quickly with funding the economic stimulus package including the $16 . 4 billion in emergency spending this year.
