A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
PROCLAIMING APRIL 5TH THROUGH APRIL 9TH, 1993,
AS "NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK" IN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, the week of April 5 - 9 , 1993 has been designated as
National Community Development Week; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is a participant in the
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program which funds a
myriad of social service, economic development, commercial
revitalization, and rehabilitation programs in this community; and
WHEREAS, in this community and in communities throughout the
nation, eighteen years of CDBG program funding has developed a
strong working network of relationships between this local
government, residents of community development target neighborhoods
and the many non-profit agencies which provide services and help
make possible our commitment to these neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, this community recognizes that the CDBG program is a
partnership of federal, local government, non-profit and community
efforts, and that the services funded by the federal CDBG program,
administered by the local government and often delivered by local
non-profit organizations, relies heavily on the dedication and
goodwill of our combined efforts; and
WHEREAS, that during National Community Development Week 1993 ,
this community will give special thanks and recognition to all CDBG
service providers and project operators for providing essential
services and programs to our residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACHZ, FLORIDA, that the City
hereby designates the week of April 5th through April 9th, 1993 , as
"National Community Development Week" in the City of Miami Beach,
and to urge the legislature to preserve and fully fund the
Community Development Block Grant program.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends adopting the attached Resolution
proclaiming April 5 - 9, 1993, as "National Community Development
Week".
BACKGROUND
April 5 - 9, 1993, is "National Community Development Week" . The
purpose of this week is to celebrate the success of community
development programs on a nationwide basis, as a prelude to
securing the re-authorization of the Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) program.
ANALYSIS
Municipalities have been asked to adopt resolutions illustrating
the accomplishments and benefits of the CDBG program and
proclaiming "National Community Development Week" .
CONCLUSION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a Resolution
proclaiming April 5 - 9, 1993 as National Community Development
Week.
