SUBJECT: José Marti Event at Collins Park
The purpose of this L TC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission of the upcoming José
Martí event hosted by the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department in
conjunction with the Hispanic Affairs Committee.
José Martí was a dynamic figure in Cuban history and made tremendous contributions to
Latin American literature. To celebrate his life and accomplishments, the City will be
hosting an event on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Collins Park (Collins Avenue and 21°
Street). The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. and light refreshments will be served
following the ceremony.
In addition to the traditional wreath laying ceremony, the event will also feature musical
acts, influential speakers and performance poetry.
