SUBJECT: POCKET PARK A T 20 S TR E ET
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the status
of the project to construct a new pocke t park, located at the intersection of 20" Street, North Bay
Road and Sunset Drive.
On June 11, 2019, the City bro ke ground on the construction of this new park which will provide a
4,000 square feet playground, with nontraditional play equipment, for children ages 2-5 and 5-12.
The playground has shade coverage with the installation of three shade sails, two smaller canopies
at the picnic areas, and the installation of over 65 trees. A metal picket fence with intermittent
masonry columns encloses the boundaries of the park.
The construction of the park is appro aching completion within the next few days. A grand
opening ceremony is being scheduled in January. The Park however will remain closed
throughout the holiday season to allow the trees, sod and other landscape material to properly
set ro ots before opening to the public.
