Resolution 2020-31115 RESOLUTION NO. 2020-31115 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING, IN CONCEPT, THE RECOMMENDATION FROM THE EMPLOYEE SUGGESTION PROGRAM TO REQUEST TASTE BAKERY AND CAFE TO POST NUTRITIONAL AND CALORIC INFORMATION FOR THE FOOD ON THEIR MENUS,AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE THE COST AND FEASIBILITY OF IMPLEMENTING SUCH SUGGESTION AND. TO REPORT HIS FINDINGS TO THE CITY COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the Employee Suggestion Program (the "Program") is one of the City's five Reward and Recognition programs implemented on June 16, 2015; and WHEREAS, the Program allows employees to share innovative ideas, which may enhance productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and/or the quality of local government services; and WHEREAS, at the end of each fiscal year, prizes are awarded based on a recommendation from the Program's Procedure team, including intangible recommendations; and WHEREAS, one award of $1,000 is awarded to an employee for the suggestion of the year resulting in cost savings/revenues for the City, and up to three other awards are given to the runners-up at $500 each; and WHEREAS, for Fiscal Year 2019, a suggestion to request Taste Bakery Café to provide nutritional and caloric information for their menu was selected for an award of$500 and possible implementation; and WHEREAS, the City has a partnership with Taste Bakery Café, and City employees frequently purchase food and beverages from their establishment; and WHEREAS, this suggestion, if implemented, would promote health eating habits, and complement the current GO 365 Wellness program, allowing employees to better monitor their caloric intake. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve, in concept, the recommendation from the Employee Suggestion Program to request Taste Bakery Café to post nutritional and caloric information on their menu, and direct the City Manager to investigate the costs and feasibility of implementing such suggestion and to report his findings to the City Commission.
