Resolution 2020-31114 RESOLUTION NO. 2020-31114 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING, IN CONCEPT, THE RECOMMENDATION FROM THE EMPLOYEE SUGGESTION PROGRAM TO ALLOW THE COLLECTION AND STORAGE OF UNIFORMS RELINQUISHED BY INACTIVE EMPLOYEES TO BE AVAILABLE TO ACTIVE EMPLOYEES FOR USE AS THEY ARE WAITING FOR THEIR YEARLY UNIFORM ALLOTMENT, AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE THE COST AND FEASIBILITY OF IMPLEMENTING SUCH SUGGESTION, AND TO REPORT HIS FINDINGS TO THE CITY COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the Employee Suggestion Program (the"Program") is one of the City's five Reward and Recognition programs implemented on June 16, 2015; and WHEREAS, the Program allows employees to share innovative ideas, which may enhance productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and/or the quality of local government services; and WHEREAS, at the end of each fiscal year, prizes are awarded based on a recommendation from the Program's Procedure team, including intangible recommendations; and WHEREAS, one award of$1,000 is awarded to an employee for the suggestion of the year resulting in cost savings/revenues for the City, and up to three other awards are given to the runners-up at $500 each; and WHEREAS, for Fiscal Year 2019, a suggestion to allow the collection and storage of uniforms relinquished by inactive employees so that they are available to active employees for use as they are waiting for their yearly uniform allotment was selected for an award of$500 and possible implementation; and WHEREAS, currently, the protocol is that once an employee separates from the City, the City logo is cut and removed, and the shirt uniform is then discarded; and WHEREAS, recycling these shirts is a potential benefit, as it may serve as alternative clothing for current team members who are waiting for their yearly uniform allowance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve, in concept, the recommendation from the Employee Suggestion Program to allow the collection and storage of uniforms relinquished by inactive employees to be available to active employees for use as they are waiting for their yearly uniform allotment, and direct the City Manager to investigate the costs and feasibility of implementing such suggestion, and to report his findings to the City Commission.
