MB RDA MEMORANDUM NOVEMBER 20, 1992 ROUCII DIM NOT [OR DI$TRIBDT1O, 4 MEMORANDUM REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY WORKSHOP SUMMARY NOVEMBER 20, 1992 ti A Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency/South Pointe Advisory Board Workshop regarding the Agency 1993 Work Program and Budget was held in the City Manager's Large Conference Room beginning at 4:22 p.m. Mayor Seymour Gelber, Vice-Mayor David Pearlson, and Commissioners Susan Gottlieb, Martin Shapiro, and Abe Resnick were present (Commissioners Neisen Kasdin and Sy Eisenberg absent) , as were South Pointe Advisory Board members Jose Fernandez, Edward Resnick, and Herman Rubin. Also present were City Manager Roger Carlton, Assistant City Manager Stuart Rogel, Assistant City Attorney Patrick Brown, City Clerk Richard Brown, Redevelopment Specialist Joe Damien, Marina representative Carter McDowell, and other interested persons. Mr. Rogel submitted an agenda package and reviewed the items, including: • Current contractual obligations Cobb Partners Project (including environmental clean-up, utility relocation/street closures, streetscape improvements, project changes, etc. ) Miami Beach Marina (including baywalk, dry stack storage facility/SSDI property, Nick's Restaurant plans/status, parking requirements) • Potential future projects (including Kramer/Portofino Group properties, Columbus monument, Strelkow's 5th Street landscaping plan) • Zoning revisions under consideration • 1993 proposed budget. Mr. Carlton advised that the proposed 1993 work program was to: 1. Get the Cobb project underway. 2. Increase activity at the Marina. 3 . Determine future land use. Discussion held. Vice-Mayor Pearlson suggested staff investigate Jerry Mintz's suggestion that the City attempt to purchase the Cobb Project Phase II (Block 53) properties in the next few months to avoid increased cost. Pat Brown suggested the Administration attempt to negotiate options for time certain at a price certain to fix the price, possibly making the option subject to building on Phase I.
