REDLVELONIiilr AGENCY tv!AY 1985 60 000484 1061 MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT MAY 1, 1985 1) Status of GSA Property A representative of the National Park Service viewed the property in question during the week of April 15, 1985. A meeting between the Atlanta Directors of the National Park Service and GSA has been scheduled during this week (May 1st). Correspondence addressed to Congressman Pepper's Office continuing to seek his support and assistance was circulated under separate cover to Agency Members. Copies of that correspondence were also forwarded to Senator Hawkins and Senator Chiles. 2) Cheezem Development Agreement Representatives of the Cheezem Company have been working with the City on the design specifications for Biscayne Street. We continue to be assured by representatives of Cheezem that their closing will take place prior to May 15, 1985. 3) South Pointe Park Phase I construction, which consists of the parking areas, roadways with lighting, underground utilities, tree transplanting, irrigation feeders, park lighting, jetty promenade and interior walkways, is approximately 68% complete. Phase II construction, which consists of the amphitheater with a tensile structure stage covering, adjacent support building with public restrooms, picnic shelters and pavilion, vita course, observation towers, dune boardwalks, athletic field lighting, irrigation systems and final landscaping, is approximately 25% complete. This project is on schedule, and is within the approved budget that was appropriated. 4) South Pointe Promotional Efforts A second South Pointe Newsletter is currently being prepared. The video of the Conference proceedings is being reviewed for possible incorporation into a second audio/visual intended as a "training piece" that would describe to developers how the South Beach Plan looks and how they could participate. 5) SSDI Lawsuit A meeting to begin negotiations on a development agreement is scheduled during the week of May 1, 1985, with representatives of First Boston. A hearing on the Exercise of Option has been scheduled for May 3, 1985. 6) Corridor Studies The results of the Corridor Studies will be presented at the May 15, 1985 Commission Meeting, and will include development pro formas and selected sites and uses, design standards for infrastructure improvement, and the housing market analysis. 7) Housing Authority Negotiations The Agency Attorney has requested an opinion from Freilich and Leitner as to whether or not the language regarding access would fulfill the City's obligations to Carner/Mason.
