FIRE CHIEF '/ / 'j{;./ Date: January 29, 1999 To: Subject: SUPER BOWL 1999 The Fire Department is staffing special events with off-duty Paramedics and Inspectors. 1& Three additional rescue units have been placed in service for January 29th and 30th, 1999. These units will be assigned to various special events around the City, 1& Paramedics are assigned to the NFL Players Experience from January 29-31,1999. 1& Additional Fire Inspectors will perform night inspections each night from January 28th to January 31st, 1999, They will be checking clubs throughout the City for overcrowding and fire code violations. 1& An FBI Special Response Team will be operating from Fire Station #2, 2300 Pinetree Drive, from January 29-31, 1999. Fire Department staff and Special Event Coordinators have been working for months with the NFL Superbowl Planning Committee and other public safety agencies on the Federal, State and local level to develop a plan that provides a safe and enjoyable Superbowl experience for all of South Florida, ~D
