Resolution 2020-31249 • RESOLUTION NO. 2020-31249 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACKNOWLEDGING COMMISSIONER RICKY ARRIOLA'S DECISION TO VOLUNTARILY FOREGO THE REMAINDER OF HIS SALARY AND OTHER COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS AFFORDED TO HIM (THE "COMMISSIONER'S COMPENSATION") FOR FISCAL YEAR ("FY") 2019-2020, AND APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS EQUIVALENT TO COMMISSIONER ARRIOLA'S FY 2019-2020 COMPENSATION, IN AN APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF $15,500.00, FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO SOUTH FLORIDA SENIORS IN ACTIONS, TO BE EXPENDED BY SOUTH FLORIDA SENIORS IN ACTION ON QUALIFIED NEEDS AND PROJECTS, AS DETERMINED SOUTH FLORIDA SENIORS IN ACTION. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.02 of the City Charter, the annual compensation (i.e., salary)for a Commissioner is $6,000; and WHEREAS, in addition, Commissioners are also entitled to pension benefits (similar to those available to Unclassified City employees), a car allowance, phone allowance, and a monthly office stipend for travel and other expenses related to their public duties (collectively, "Commissioner's Compensation"); and WHEREAS, Commissioner Ricky Arriola intends to voluntarily forego his Commissioner's Compensation for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2019-2020, and requests for his salary to be transferred to and expended by South Florida Seniors in Action, for qualified needs and projects, as determined by South Florida Seniors in Action; and WHEREAS, South Florida Seniors in Action, a 501c(3) organization, has been dedicated to improving the lives of seniors including individuals with disabilities, and underprivileged seniors living in Miami-Dade County since 2012; and WHEREAS, for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2019-2020, the Commissioner's Compensation is approximately$15,500.00; and WHEREAS, accordingly, the Office of Management and Budget, will make an adjustment for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 budget for Commissioner Arriola's Compensation, from salaries and allowance to donations and contributions; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve the transfer of the amount equivalent to Commissioner Arriola's Compensation for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2019-2020 from the City of Miami Beach to South Florida Seniors in Action, so that South Florida Seniors in Action may allocate these funds as they deem appropriate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby acknowledge Commissioner Arriola's decision to voluntarily forego the remainder of his annual salary and other compensation and benefits afforded to him (the "Commissioner's Compensation") for Fiscal Year ("FY") 2019-2020, and approve the transfer of funds equivalent to the Commissioner Arriola's FY 2019-2020 compensation, in an approximate amount of $15,500.00, from the City of Miami Beach to South Florida Seniors in Actions, to be expended by South Florida Seniors in Action on qualified needs and projects, as determined South Florida Seniors in Action.
