Enjoying our beaches…
Re-opening of beaches in Miami-Dade County will be a coordinated effort, concurrent with the opening of beaches in Miami Beach,
Surfside, Bal Harbour Village, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, Key Biscayne, City of Miami Historic Virginia Key Beach, as well as all
Miami-Dade County beaches in Haulover Park, Crandon Park causeways, Matheson Hammock and Homestead Bayfront Park atoll pool
beaches. Target reopening date is June 1, 2020, open from 7:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Strategy
●The County, City and CDC guidelines will be
implemented and rules communicated
●Health protocols as well as allowable and
unallowable activities will be promulgated
throughout our beaches

●Enforcement of beach procedures and protocols
●Police and LIfeguard services available and ready to
respond

●No groups > 10
●Beachgoers must have facial coverings ready and
will be required to be used in restrooms, concessions
and when social distancing is not possible
●Dedicated custodial personnel providing active,
consistent disinfection of our restrooms

●BEACH SHOWERS will be cleaned and
disinfected frequently throughout the
day
●Maintain social distance while in
queue, one person at a time
●GROUPS OF 10 OR LESS at all times
●Facial coverings must be worn when
6 feet social distancing cannot be
achieved except for members of
the same household
●BEACHFRONT RESTROOMS will have
security guards assist in maintaining 6
feet separation between users
●Dedicated attendant at each restroom
to clean and disinfect every 2 to 3 hours
in accordance to CDC guidelines
●Educational signage will be posted
throughout
●CHAIRS, UMBRELLAS, and
COOLERS shall not be shared
among people from different
households
●Concession furnishings must
maintain 6 feet distancing and
be disinfected after each use
●FACIAL COVERINGS must be available
and ready at all times
●Facial coverings that are wet are
ineffective, bring additional clean and
dry face coverings to replace a face
covering that becomes wet or dirty
●SUNBATHING or sitting on individually
owned chairs/beach towels where
permitted must be done by
maintaining 6 feet separation
●Delineated beach areas will be
marked with allowable activities
●CONCESSIONS will be allowed to
operate following CDC guidelines
●Rental equipment including kayaks,
paddleboards, chairs, and umbrellas
must adhere to social distancing and
be disinfected after each use
●Food sales pursuant to New Normal
restaurant guidelines

For your protection … How to be and keep safe. In order to ensure beachgoers have a safe environment and enjoy our beaches, the New
Normal guidelines establish beachoger expectation, demarcate social distancing, delineate allowable and define unallowable activities.

Public Safety and Enforcement
Miami Beach Police
●Enforcement is a shared
responsibility of the County,
coastal municipalities,
condominiums, and hotels
●24 dedicated Officers on
staggered shifts to cover 24
hours through Phase 1
●25 Security guards and 2
supervisors at checkpoint
location
●Coverage from South
Pointe to 87th Street along
7 miles of the beach
●Restricted access on 5th,
7th, 10th and 12th Street
Ocean Rescue
●Ocean Rescue will be fully staffed
and lifeguard towers open
throughout the 7 miles of beach
●Hours of operations will be from
9:00 am to 7:00 pm. until early
November
●Ocean Rescue will be conforming
to the established protocols
●Lieutenants and Lifeguard IIs will
assist with enforcement of the
guidelines while they are patrolling
the beach
●25 part-time lifeguards will act as
Beach Ambassadors during the
days they are not scheduled to
work
●If there are in certain areas that
become more crowded than
others a second lifeguard will be
deployed to the tower
corresponding to the area
Beach Ambassadors
●Miami Dade County will provide 70
ambassadors per shift from 7:00 am
to 8:00 pm 7 days a week
●City of Miami Beach will provide 30
ambassadors per shift during
weekends
●Boucher Bros. will provide 35
ambassadors daily
●Art Deco Welcome Center will serve
as the command post for all
ambassadors from 6:00 am- 8:00 pm
●7th Street Parking Garage will be the
designated parking garage for the
ambassadors
●Tents and umbrellas at entry points
