Submitted Grant application requesting funding of $2.1 million from Miami-Dade County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Program City Commission approved the taking back of Park City Commission rejected Resolution authorizing an Amendment to Architects contract to design Park 12/16/98 01/20/99 . . 02/1 7/99 This project is currently on hold pending the State of Florida's response to the City's request to return the Park and the approval to initiate a contract amendment for architectural services. X. South Pointe Park On September 23, 1998, the Chairman and Members of the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency adopted a Resolution Authorizing the Administration to Proceed with the Design and Implementation of Physical Improvements in the South Pointe Redevelopment Area and Appropriating the Necessary Funds to Accomplish Them From Available Tax Increment Funds. Included in this approval was $900,659 for South Pointe Park and $291,924 for Washington Avenue Park that was previously reallocated from the appropriation dedicated to each of the parks within the $15 million General Obligation Parks Bond Program and allocated to the North Shore Park Youth Center on July 1, 1998, per Agenda Item R7L. At this time South Pointe Park is on hold pending the identification of additional funding needed to complete the estimated $4.5 million improvement program. XI. Scott Rakow Youth Center (Schedule subject to change pending approval of the Design Review Board) . Schematic Design 100% Complete. Beaches and Boardwalk The boardwalk from 21st Street to 44th Street has been resurfaced, the remainder of the structure, from 44th Street to 47th Street is on hold pending resolution of a legal action against the product supplier and installation contractor. The Administration is in the process of developing the Beach Front Master Plan. This plan will include the installation of additional landscape materials such as Coconut Palms, Sea grapes and Sea Oats. The North Beach Recreational Corridor is currently in the schematic development/ planning phases of the project. The cost for these phases is being deducted from the Beaches and Boardwalk allocation.
