RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO DISTRIBUTE
AN EDUCATIONAL BROCHURE TO MARKET EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENTS
FUNDED BY THE CITY IN MIAMI BEACH PUBLIC SCHOOLS; AND FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS
OR AGREEMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE DISTRIBUTION.
WHEREAS, in January 2008, the City of Miami Beach, Florida ("City") entered into an
Education Compact with Miami-Dade County Public Schools ("M-DCPS") to enhance learning
opportunities for youth; and
WHEREAS, the Education Compact reflects the desire of the Miami Beach community to
support excellence in the City's public schools; and
WHEREAS, the Education Compact currently addresses and supports the following priority
areas: Teacher Recruitment/Retention; Communication; Parental Involvement/Family Support; Youth
and Community Engagement; Health and Well-Being; Student Achievement; Safety; and Technology;
and
WHEREAS, the Administration has developed a brochure at the request of the Committee for
Quality Education to market the City-funded educational enhancements available to all Miami Beach
youth and in Miami Beach public schools; and
WHEREAS, the educational brochure may be updated periodically as needed to reflect all
City funded enhancements; and
WHEREAS, the brochure will be shared electronically with the real estate industry to support
the marketing of Miami Beach as a place for excellent public school education at Miami Beach Senior
High School, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School, Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8, Miami Beach
South Pointe Elementary School, North Beach Elementary School and Biscayne Beach Elementary
School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission
hereby authorize the City Administration to distribute an educational enhancement brochure to market
educational enhancements funded by the City in Miami Beach public schools; and further authorize
the City Manager to execute any and all documents or agreements in connection with the distribution.

RECOMMENDATION
Administration is seeking approval to utilize the developed educational marketing material
applicable for use by entities to support promotion of the City of Miami Beach as a great place
for public school K-12 education.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
At the October 30, 2019 Commission meeting Item C41 was referred to the Neighborhood and
Quality of Life Committee to discuss the development of a real estate marketing kit/material
about "What makes Miami Beach feeder pattern public school great." The following NQLC
meeting provided direction as to information to include in the material as well as a review by the
Committee for Quality Education,
