A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATION OF THE METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD AS TO THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH SPECIAL ELECTION BRT.D ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1986; DECLARING
RESULTS TO BE AGAINST ISSUANCE OF BONDS. ($4,000,000.00 - NORTH
SHORE OPEN SPACE PARE EXTENSION/SAVE OUR COAST PROJECT.)
WHEREAS, on September 30, 1986, Metropolitan Dade County conducted a
run-off Primary Election, at which time the City of Miami Beach authorized
the holding of a Special Election relating to the issuance of $4,000,000.00
bonds for acquisition of beachfront properties in the City of Miami Beach
between Collins Avenue and Atlantic Ocean, and between 77th Street and 79th
Street for the North Shore Open Space Park Extension/Save our Coast Project,
and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 86-18533, adopted on July 23, 1986 as amended
by Res. No. 86-18540, adopted on August 15, 1986, the Metropolitan Dade
County Canvassing Board was authorized to act as the Canvassing Board for the
special election of the City of Miami Beach to be held on September 30, 1986,
and
WHEREAS, the certification of the results of the City of Miami Beach
Special Election as submitted by David C. Leahy, Supervisor of Elections,
Metropolitan Dade County, Florida, dated October 3, 1986, has been received
and is made a part of this resolution, and
WHEREAS, said Certification reflects that the bond issue submitted was
disapproved by the electorate of the City of Miami Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, that said Certification be and the same is hereby
adopted, which reflects that there were 9,298 votes cast and upon the
question:
QUESTIO~NO. 1:
Shall the City issue general obligation bonds in a principal amount not
exceeding $4,000,000.00 bearing interest at a rate(s) as may be
determined at the time of the sale thereof, not exceeding the maximum
legal rate of interest, for acquisition of beachfront properties in the
City of Miami Beach between Collins Avenue and the Atlantic Ocean, and
between 77th Street and 79th Street for the North Shore Open Space Park
Extension/Save our Coast Project?
2,724 were cast FOR BONDS
6,574 were cast AGAINST BONDS
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND DETERMINED THAT QUESTION NO. 1 WAS DISAPPROVED.
