Resolution 2020-31438 RESOLUTION NO: 2020-31438 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO PROCEED WITH THE CONVERSION OF PARALLEL TO ANGLE PARKING ON SELECT BLOCKS IN NORTH BEACH WHEREAS, at its February 3, 2020 meeting, the Neighborhoods and Quality of Life Committee ("NQLC") discussed the North Beach Parking Analysis report performed by Walker Parking; and WHEREAS, upon further discussion by the NQLC, the Administration received the direction to return to the Committee with a plan that incorporated several items, including strategies and timelines for implementation; and WHEREAS, one of these items was the conversion of parallel parking to angle parking on select blocks in North Beach; and WHEREAS, the Transportation and Mobility Department conducted a survey and analysis of converting parallel parking to angle parking between 75th Street and 87th Terrace, and between Collins Avenue and Dickens Avenue/Tatum Waterway Drive/Byron Avenue, and concluded that additional 22 parking spaces may be gained by this change in parking configuration; and WHEREAS, the following are the affected blocks: • 82nd Street between Collins Court and Collins Avenue —4 parking spaces; • 80th Street between Tatum Waterway Drive and Byron Avenue—4 parking spaces; • 75th Street between Harding Avenue and Dickens Avenue— 14 parking spaces; and WHEREAS, these items were discussed at the July 15, 2020 NQLC meeting and the Committee is recommending proceeding with the conversion of parallel to angle parking on blocks identified above. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee to proceed with the conversion of parallel to angle parking on select blocks in North Beach.
