FPL INSTALLATION OF NEW UNDERGROUND DUCT BANK ON ALTON
ROAD
This LTC is to inform you that Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has been installing a
new electrical underground duct bank on Alton Road, from 29t~ Street to 41st Street. This
project is part of the FPL capital improvements program to modernize and upsize their
electrical power distribution system in Miami Beach.
The contractor suffered construction delays in their planned schedule due to unexpected
weather conditions and unforeseen soil conditions. City staff has met with FPL
representatives and received a commitment that the project will be completed no later than
October 31, 2003. We are monitoring the contractor's daily progress and will keep you
appraised if there are any other significant delays that will prevent them from achieving the
promised completion date.
For your information, the current asphalt patch in the completed sections is only of
temporary nature. FPL is required to complete full lane restoration of the pavement which
includes milling and resurfacing the full width of the travel lane in the areas that were
