CALEA CONFERENCE

This Letter to the Commission is to provide information on the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) yearly convention in Colorado
Springs, Colorado in November 2003.
The Accreditation status of the Police Department is examined every three years. If all
record keeping and standard operating procedures are found to be satisfactory, the agency
will receive approval of their request for re-accreditation status at the annual CALEA
convention. This year's CALEA convention is from November 19u~ - November 22nd in
Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chief De Lucca and the MBPD's Accreditation Team will be
in attendance to respond to questions during the Commission Review Hearing and to
receive the official approval for re-accreditation. The Mayor and City Commissioners are
also welcome to attend. Please let me know if you are interested in accompanying our
team.
