A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND QUALITY OF
LIFE COMMITTEE, AT ITS SEPTEMBER 16, 2020 MEETING, TO
ACCEPT A DONATION FROM THE MIAMI BUENA VISTA-BILTMORE
LIONS CLUB, OF A BENCH, TO BE PLACED ALONG THE
BEACHWALK ADJACENT TO BEACH VIEW PARK, AND FURTHER
ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A SECOND BENCH TO BE PLACED
BEHIND INDIAN BEACH PARK, ALONG THE BEACHWALK.
WHEREAS, the Miami Buena Vista-Biltmore Lions Club expressed the desire to
donate a bench (Exhibit A) to the City of Miami Beach to be placed within a City park; and
WHEREAS, at the September 16, 2020 City Commission Meeting, a discussion
regarding accepting a donation and installation of a park bench was referred to the
Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee (the "NQLC"); and
WHEREAS, at the November 6, 2020 NQLC meeting, the Committee discussed the
donation and recommended for the City to accept the donation of the bench; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that the preferred location would be at Beach View
Park, along the beachwalk, in a shaded area; and
WHEREAS, after the November 6, 2020 NQLC meeting, the Miami Buena Vista-
Biltmore Lions Club approached the City offering the donation of a second bench; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department recommends acceptance of the
donation of the second bench, which will be installed behind Indian Beach Park, along the
beachwalk; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for installation may range from $500 to $1,000 per
bench.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Neighborhood and Quality of Life
Committee, at its September 16, 2020 meeting, to accept a donation from the Miami Buena
Vista-Biltmore Lions Club, of a bench, to be placed along the beachwalk adjacent to Beach
View Park, and further accepting the donation of a second bench to be placed behind Indian
Beach Park, along the beachwalk.

RECOMMENDATION
Accept a donation and installation of two park benches.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
At the September 16, 2020 City Commission Meeting, a discussion regarding accepting a
donation and installation of a park bench was referred to the Neighborhood and Quality of Life
Committee (the "NQLC").

At the November 6, 2020 NQLC meeting, the donation was discussed and approved to be
placed along the beachwalk adjacent to Beach View Park, in a shaded area.
ANALYSIS
The Miami Buena Vista-Biltmore Lions Club would like to donate a bench (Exhibit A)to the City
of Miami Beach to be placed within a park. During the November 6, 2020 NQLC meeting, it was
discussed that the preferred location would be at Beach View Park, along the beachwalk.
After the NQLC meeting, the Miami Buena Vista-Biltmore Lions Club approached the City
offering the donation of a second bench. The Parks and Recreation Department recommends
acceptance of the donation of the second bench and will install it behind Indian Beach Park,
along the beachwalk.
