Resolution 2020-31530 RESOLUTION NO. 2020-31530 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR DANIELLA LEVINE CAVA REDUCE THE DURATION OF THE NIGHTLY CURFEW IMPOSED IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID- 19 PANDEMIC, THROUGHOUT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FROM A START TIME OF 12:00 A.M. TO A START TIME OF 2:00 A.M., ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: DECEMBER 24, 2020,AND DECEMBER 31,2020, THROUGH JANUARY 2, 2021; PROVIDED THAT ALL INDOOR AND OUTDOOR GATHERINGS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY EMERGENCY ORDER 30-20 AND APPLICABLE CDC GUIDELINES. WHEREAS, in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the Miami-Dade County Mayor issued Emergency Order 27-20, as amended, establishing a daily curfew throughout Miami-Dade County (the "County"), which is in effect from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.; and WHEREAS, individuals and businesses throughout the County are preparing for upcoming New Year's celebrations; and WHEREAS, for the City's businesses, New Year's Eve is typically one of the largest, if not the largest, revenue-generating nights of the year; and WHEREAS, this year, which has been marked by a once-in-a-generation global pandemic and great economic and personal hardships, individuals and businesses alike are anxious to celebrate the new year in a safe, reasonable, and socially conscious manner; and WHEREAS, however, in light of the public health risks associated with in-person gatherings, social distancing requirements set forth in Miami-Dade County Emergency Order 30-20 and applicable CDC guidelines must be observed; and WHEREAS, as such, the Mayor and City Commission of Miami Beach respectfully request that County Mayor Daniella Levine reduce the duration of the nightly curfew imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout Miami-Dade County, from a start time of 12:00 A.M. to a start time of 2:00 A.M., on the following dates: December 24, 2020, and December 31, 2020, through January 2, 2021; provided that all indoor and outdoor gatherings shall be subject to the social distancing requirements in County EO 30-20 and applicable CDC guidelines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City Commission hereby request that County Mayor Daniella Levine reduce the duration of the nightly curfew imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout Miami- 1 Dade County, from a start time of 12:00 A.M. to a start time of 2:00 A.M., on the following dates: December 24, 2020, and December 31, 2020, through January 2, 2021; provided that all indoor and outdoor gatherings shall be subject to the social distancing requirements in County EO 30-20 and applicable CDC guidelines.d PASSED and ADOPTED this 7 day of ,�•Lu�'hir , 2020.
