Gonzalez ~'.f' ~ City Manager "l) F,T.A.A, - GAP P OTEST Date: November 12, 2003 To: From: This Letter to the Commission is to provide information on a F.T.A.A. related protest assembly which is scheduled to occur on Monday 11/17/03 ending at the GAP located at 673 Collins Ave at approximately 2:00 p.m. This event occurs on the first day of the F.T.AA enhanced staffing plan of the M.B.P.D. The Police Department will have a Field Force team on stand-by as well as the Bike Units available to monitor and direct peaceful demonstrators. Should the protest include civil disobedience and the intent to destroy property, the M.B.P.D. is fully trained and prepared to ensure the safety of citizens and property. The Motor Units will also be monitoring the situation and will be available to reroute traffic should that become necessary. The Gap demonstration's theme is that "We'd Rather Wear Nothing Than Wear Gap". The protestors intend to disrobe in front of the GAP as the Grand Finale of their march.
