Subject: First Sundays at the Parks & Recreation Department
In an effort to improve customer service and to increase visibility for our Parks &
Recreation Department facilities and programs, we will commence a First Sundays
celebration on December 7,2003. First Sundays encourages visitation of featured
Parks & Recreation facilities by waiving entrance fees for City of Miami Beach
residents at selected facilities on the first Sunday of each month from December
through June,
Each First Sundays celebration will include some form of entertainment. Additional
staff will be on hand to promote our full schedule of Parks & Recreation programs
and to assist customers in accessing and enjoying those programs.
The initial First Sundays program will be held at the Flamingo Park Pool. Current
plans call for the January, 2004 First Sundays to be held at the Scott Rakow
Center. Depending upon facility availability, the program will move next to the new
North Shore Park & Youth Center and to the new Scott Rakow Ice Rink.
The attached newspaper advertisement is part of comprehensive customer
education program to announce First Sundays in the Miami Herald newspaper,
three Hispanic language newspapers, in the Winter, 2003-Spring, 2004 Recreation
Review magazine and on City cable Ch. 20.
