A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF ,MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA URGING
THE LEGISLATURE OF THE' .STATE OF 'FLORIDA
TO RESCIND THEIR 1976 VOTE CALLING FOR A '
CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION.
WHEREAS, The City of Miami Beach in Dade County
'acknowledges the need for federal fiscal responsibility, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach in Dade County' believes
that after almost 200 years 'of' constitutional stability, ' the risks
inherent in another convention are too great since there can be no '
guarantee that our form of government would remain intact, and
WHEREAS, the City. of Miami Beach in . Dade County . further
realizes that the real issue is the integrity of our United States
Constitution, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach i.n Dade County further
• believes that our United States Constitution: is an inspired
document which has guaranteed our political 'and spiritual freedom,
economic opportunity, state diversity, and national growth, and.
WHEREAS, . the City of Miami . Beach, 'in . Dade County .
acknowledges that our United States Constitution is a statement of
principle and practicality that has worked well for two centuries.
NOW., THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Miami
Beach in Dade County respectfully urges all members of the Florida
State Legislature to vote to rescind their 1976 vote, to call a
Constitutional Convention, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should it be necessary, to
avoid the calling of a Constitutional Convention, the City of
Miami Beach in Dade County supports a special session of the
Florida Legislature to vote to rescind . their call for a
Constitutional Convention, and

IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution
be sent to the entire membership of the Florida State Legislature.
