A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION
TO REQUEST THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES CONSIDER THE ACQUISITION OF BLOCK 113,
OCEAN BEACH ADDITION NO. 4, P/B 3, (FIRST TO SECOND
STREET/OCEAN DRIVE) FOR USE AS PUBLIC BEACH PROPERTY
UNDER THE SAVE OUR COAST PROGRAM.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
THAT,
WHEREAS,_ the Florida Department of Natural Resources, Bureau of Land
Acquisition implements the Save Our Coast Program; and
WHEREAS, the Save Our Coast Program was created to create additional open
public beachfront coast line property for use by the residents and visitors of the State of
Florida; and
WHEREAS; Dade County was given the highest rating in terms of need for
additional public beachfront property; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of this need and consideration of the State's desire to
acquire property for public purpose in this area, the City Manager recommended to the City
Commission that the City recommend that the State consider the acquisition of Block 113 in
South Pointe under the Save Our Coast Program for public beach front property.
- WHEREAS The acquistion of this site would eliminate three buildings that
result in a high number of code enforcement/fire enforcement/police calls for service
complaints; and
WHEREAS,The elimination of these properties would assist the
redevelopment in South Pointe.
NOW THEREFORE, be it duly resolved by the City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, that the City Manager is authorized to initiate the formal application
for the acquisition of Block 113, to the Bureau of Land Acquisition of the Department of
Natural Resources for consideration for the 1986-87 acquisition list of the Land Acquisition
Selection Committee.
That the City Manager is hereby also authorized to act in connection with the
submission of the same, and to provide additional information as may be required for the
Save Our Coast Program application.
