RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES FOR AWARD OF A LAND AND WATER
CONSERVATION FUND GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,000.00
TO BE MATCHED WITH $150,000.00 OF YEAR 11 COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR A TOTAL PROJECT
COST OF $300,000.00 TO BE USED TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT
CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS IN LUMMUS PARK FROM 9TH STREET
TO 10TH STREET AND FROM 14TH STREET TO 14TH LANE, AND
DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE OFFICIAL
LIAISON FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH IN THIS SPECIFIC
GRANT PROGRAM,
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach as adopted at the public hearing, the Ocean
Drive Strategy which recommends these improvements to Lummus Park be made;
WHEREAS, the proposed project is consistent with the goals and objectives of
the Recreation and Open Space element of the Miami Beach Comprehensive Plan which was
adopted at public hearing;
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach encourages public participation in the
planning and selection of recreation projects;
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has committed matching funds in the
amount of $150,000.00 in Community Development Block Grant funds for this project and
said funds shall remain available until needed;
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is prepared and able to develop and
maintain the project site in accordance with the project program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR be and the same is
hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City, the Authorization to Apply for a Land
and Water Conservation Fund Grant for Improvements to Lummus park.
