RESOLUTION NO. 85-18317
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
COMMITTEE OF THE FRIENDS OF SOUTH FLORIDA ART
CENTER TO HOLD A CRAFTS FESTIVAL ON SUNDAYS
FROM DECEMBER 22, 1985 to JUNE 15, 1986, ON THE 800,
900, and 1000 BLOCKS OF LINCOLN ROAD MALL FROM
NOON TO 6:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, as an economic
stimulus to the Lincoln Road Mall, as well as a cultural and entertainment event, finds it in
the best interests of the City to permit this Crafts Festival;
WHEREAS, the City Commission at its meeting of October 16, 1985 authorized a
Crafts Festival for a seven week period from November 3, 1985 through
December 15, 1985 on the 800, 900 and 1000 Blocks of Lincoln Road;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that authorization is granted for the holding of the
Crafts Festival as described in Commission Memoranda Nos. 614-85 and 722-85.

Request of The Committee of the Friends of South Florida Art Center to Hold A
Crafts Festival on the Lincoln Road Mall
The Committee of the Friends of South Florida Art Center, have requested authorization to
hold a Crafts Festival on the 800, 900, and 1,000 blocks of Lincoln Road Mall on November 3,
10, 17, 24, December 1, 8, and 15 (Sundays) from noon to 6 P.M.
The Committee intends to invite 60 exhibiting craftsmen to display their work in the median
area of the above noted blocks and have assured the City that the exhibits will not be placed in
the pedestrian walkways. All crafts will be hand-crafted; additionally, a limited number of
plants will be available for purchase.
The Committee has further assured the City that they will comply with all necessary insurance
and City service requirements for producing this event.
• Authorization for the Commission's granting of this request is provided in Sec. 25.16 of the City
Code, which states in part:
... This Section shall not apply to persons participating in any art show or
exhibit held on all city properties under specific authorization of the
City Commission...
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:.
It is the Administration's recommendation that authorization be granted to the Committe of the
Friends of South Florida Art Center, to hold a Crafts Festival on the 800, 900, and 1,000 blocks
of Lincoln Road Mall from noon to 6:00 P.M., on Sundays from November 3rd through December
15th.

SUBJECT: REQUEST OF ' E COMMITTEE OF THE FRIENDS OF SOUTH FLORIDA
ART CENTER TO EXTEND THE ORGANIZATION'S AUTHORIZATION TO
HOLD A CRAFTS FESTIVAL ON THE LINCOLN ROAD MALL.
At the City Commission meeting of October 16, 1985 the Committee of the Friends of South
Florida Art Center was granted authorization to hold a Crafts Festival on the 800, 900, and
1000 blocks of Lincoln Road Mall for seven consecutive Sundays, ending on December 15,
1985.
The Committee of the Friends has successfully held this event for the last seven Sundays
and,has complied with all necessary insurance and City service requirements for producing
this event, as stipulated in the resolution which was passed authorizing this event.
Therefore, the Friends of the South Florida Arts center hereby requests that their
authorization to hold the Crafts Festival be extended for an additional six months until June
15, 1986. .
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
It is the Administration's recommendation that authorization be extended for a six month
period to continue to hold a Crafts Festival on the 800,.900, and 1000 Blocks of Lincoln Road
Mall from noon to-6:00 p.m. on Sundays from December 22, 1985 to June 15, 1986.
