Resolution 86-18340 J RESOLUTION NO. 86-18340 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION TAKE WHATEVER STEPS ARE NECESSARY TO KEEP "TIME OF DAY" CALLS FREE FOR THE CITIZENS OF MIAMI BEACH. WHEREAS , the Citizens of the City of Miami Beach can now call 324-8811 and receive the time of day without charge. This service is paid for by the advertisers, and has been so paid for seventeen (17) years; and WHEREAS, Southern Bell has the authority to let vendors put in "976" lines which would result in the citizens who call such "976" numbers having to pay a toll charge, without dialing "1" ; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach is opposed to the elimination of free "time of day service" for its citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the City Manager is instructed to request the Governor of the State of Florida and the Public Service Commission to take whatever steps are necessary to insure that "time of day" calls remain free for the Citizens of Miami Beach and to prevent the imposition of measured time or other toll charges for such "time of day" calls.
