A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, LOCATED IN DADE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, JOINING WITH THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,
FLORIDA AND DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN INVITING
THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BLACK MAYORS TO
HOLD ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH OR DADE COUNTY IN APRIL, 1987.
WHEREAS, the Cities of Opa-Locka and Miami and Dade
County, sucessfully hosted the Board of Directors Meeting of the
National Conference of Black Mayors in August of 1985; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka, the City of Miami Beach
and Dade County is interested in promoting South Florida as a
national convention site; and
WHEREAS , there are over 2 ,000 individuals who attend the
annual conferences of the National Conference of Black Mayors, and
these individuals would help to improve the local economy of South
Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka, the City of Miami Beach
and Dade County desires to invite the members of the National
Conference of Black Mayors to return to South Florida in April of
1987 for its Annual Conference; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is willing to join with
the City of Opa-Locka, Florida and Dade County in extending its
invitation to the National Conference of Black Mayors to hold its
1987 Annual Conference in South Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1:
That we invite and welcome the National Conference
of Black Mayors to hold its annual Conference in
Miami Beach or Dade County, Florida
Section 2:
That we join with the City of Opa-Locka and the
Honorable John Riley, Mayor, in extending this
invitation.
Section 3:
That we pledge to do our share to make the stay of
the conferees of the National Conference of Black
Mayors a most memorable one.
