RESOLUTION No. 86- 18435
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF APPROPRIATIONS
TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNT FOR
SOUTH POINTE PARK
WHEREAS, the City Commission authorized the creation of a
Special Revenue Account under the Special Revenue Fund assigned to
the Parks and Recreation Department for the purpose of providing
funding for the preliminary costs associated with promotion of the
South Pointe Park Special Events; and
WHEREAS, the costs for advertising and associated promotional
activities for Friday Nite Live and "Bite of the Beach" is
expected to be $50,000; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has previously appropriated $5, 000 to
the account consisting of a $3,000 loan from the General Fund
Contingency and $2,000 from proceeds from the preliminary events;
and
WHEREAS, an additional appropriation of $45,000 was required
to continue to effectively promote the many high calibre
activities at South Pointe Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the original appropriation
into South Pointe Park Special Revenue Account be increased in the
amount of $45,000 to reflect a new balance of $50,000 .

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE. INCREASE OF APPROPRIATIONS
TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNT FOR
SOUTH POINTE PARK
On March 19, 1986, the City Commission adopted Commission Memo
218-86, which authorized the creation of a Special Revenue Account
in the Special Revenue Fund assigned to the Parks and Recreation
Department. The purpose of this account was for processing of
transactions associated with the South Pointe Park Friday Night
Live and Bite of the Beach events. The original appropriation was
in the amount of $5,000, and was comprised of a $3,000 loan from
the General Fund Contingency Account and $2,000 from expected
proceeds.
During the process of providing superior and high quality
advertising and associated pre-activity promotions for the
project, it has become necessary to make an additional
appropriation of $45,000 into the account. The funding for this
additional appropriation was from actual proceeds earned from the
various events held each Friday night at South Pointe Park, in
addition to the May 4th "Bite of the Beach" program, a day-long
series of events and activities.
Since there already exists an appropriation in the amount of
$5,000, the attached resolution authorizes $45,000 to be
appropriated in the existing Special Revenue Account, reflecting a
new balance of $50,000. Again, to reiterate, the funding source
for this appropriation is from receipts and proceeds earned from
the programs and events held in South Pointe Park.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the City Commission adopt .7" the
attached resolution which authorizes the Administration to
increase the appropriation of $45,000 in the South Pointe Park
Special Events Account from $5,000 to $50,000 with funds to be
derived from proceeds from the concert and other associated events
held in the Park.
