RESOLUTION NO. 86-18484
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
PROVIDING FOR THE COMMENDATION AND
REAPPOINTMENT OF APPOINTEES TO THE
PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL OF SOUTH
FLORIDA, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE
JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT ; REDUCING
CITY APPOINTMENTS FROM SIX TO FOUR.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, by its Resolution ##83-17319,
passed and adopted April 20, 1983, and modified by Resolution #83-17341, passed
and adopted May 17, 1983, appointed the following persons whose terms of
appointment expire June 30, 1986:
1. Private Sector
(a) Ken Fordik (Retail Trade)
2. Public Sector
(a) Beverly Phillips (Community Based Organizations); and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, by its Resolution No. 85-
18203, passed and adopted October 2, 1985, made the following replacement
appointments for terms also expiring June 30, 1986:
1. Private Sector
(a) Sylvan Meyer (Services)
2. Public Sector
(a) Stuart Rogel (Economic Development); and
WHEREAS, the planned reduction in size of PIC membership
requires the reappointment of three (3) of the above; thereby reducing the total City
of Miami Beach appointments from six to four persons;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the following reappointments to
the PIC be made:
Mr. Ken Fordik, for two years, ending June 30, 1988
Ms. Beverly Phillips, for two years, ending June 30, 1988
Mr. Stuart Rogel, for two years, ending June 30, 1988;
and that all four (4) appointees be and are hereby commended for their service.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of June , 1986.

SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL OF SOUTH
FLORIDA (PIC)
BACKGROUND:
On May 17, 1983, the Commission adopted Resolution No. 83-17341,
authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with other
South Florida Employment and Training Consortium members,
providing for six (6) appointments to the Private Industry Council of
South Florida for fixed and staggered terms.
Since that time, the PIC has decided to reduce the size of its
membership from 49 to 35 members. As a result, the number of
appointments from the City of Miami Beach has been reduced from six
to five, and, effective"July 1, 1986, to four.
At this time, four.appointee's terms will be expiring June 30, 1986, and
one will expire June 30, 1987. Therefore, three of the four
aforementioned need to be reappointed.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends the reappointment of the following
individuals: Mr. Ken Fordik, Ms. Beverly Phillips, and Mr. Stuart.
Rogel, by the adoption of the attached Resolution.
