RESOLUTION NO. 86-18506
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RENAMING THE MIAMI BEACH CHESS
CLUB TO THE NORMAN MENDELSON MIAMI BEACH CHESS CLUB
AND APPROVING THE PLACEMENT OF A PLAQUE
COMMEMORATING THE NAME CHANGE
WHEREAS, Norman Mendelson was the founder of the Miami Beach Chess Club;
and,
WHEREAS, Norman Mendelson was the President of the Miami Beach Chess
Club for twenty five (25) years, until his death in 1984; and,
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Chess Club and the Rules and Special Events
Committee have recommended the renaming of the Chess Club.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission of the City of Miami
Beach approves the renaming of the Miami Beach Chess Club to the Norman Mendelson
Miami Beach Chess Club and approves a plaque commemorating the name change to be
placed in the Chess Club.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 9th day of July , 1986.
